7th INTERNATIONAL CONCERT BAND COMPETITION AND 18th WIND MUSIC CASTLE-FESTIVAL SÁRVÁR
7th-8th July 2017
The town of Sárvár announces an international concert band competition in three categories in the Nádasdy-Castle on the 7th-8th July 2017, organised by the Sárvár Concert Band. The six concert band competitions organised since 2008 on the pentagonal courtyard of the castle in Sárvár which has excellent acoustics became one of most prestigious concert band competitions in Hungary. It is an excellent opportunity for both domestic and foreign orchestras to present their skills in front of a jury of well-known experts.
The orchestras have to perform one compulsory optional piece and one – matching the difficulty of the category – piece of individual choice within a given time limit.
Based on the performances and categories there can be more 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
Middle category (B) compulsory optional pieces:

Upper category (C) compulsory optional pieces:

Total performance time (compulsory optional and individual choice piece): max. 25 minutes
Premium category (D) compulsory optional pieces:
- Kamilló Lendvay: Ünnepi játék nyitány (Festive play overture) (Editio Musica Budapest; 13141,13142)
- István Bogár: Hellas – Görög szvit (Greek Suite) (Editio Musica Budapest; 14690 SET)
Total performance time (compulsory optional and individual choice piece): max. 30 minutes
Orchestras participating in the competition declare to participate in the programs of the Sárvár Wind Music Castle Festival and the parade of orchestras Saturday afternoon and the Festival Program on the stage of the Nádasdy-Castle.

In order to participate, please fill in the nomination sheet and send us a brief introduction of the orchestra along with a photo of the orchestra and the conductor in digital form to the following address by 30th March 2017 (the photos must not be older than a year):

- cost of the dinner on Friday: 6 €/person
- cost of accommodation (in the town of Vép /20 km from Sárvár/ in a dormitory with 2 and 3-bed rooms with shower and WC) on Friday (or Saturday, on demand):

cost of lunch on Saturday: 6 €/person
cost of dinner on Saturday: 3 €/person (one drink included)

Accommodation and catering can be booked on the attached participation sheet. The competition lasts from Saturday in the morning until the early afternoon, therefore orchestras arriving from nearer destinations can plan their participation without accommodation. The competition results will be announced at 9.00 p.m. on Saturday.
